HaleGroups is a whole-health app built around the one thing most health apps leave out: other people. Hosts run small conversation groups that meet every 2-3 weeks to work through the domains of whole health together.
Most apps ask one person to track one metric alone - and most people stop within weeks. HaleGroups is part analogue by design: the app holds the structure between meetings, and the meeting itself stays human. It’s health built the way the evidence suggests it actually changes: across the whole of life, in the company of people who expect to see you next time.
A free, guided assessment scores you across the eight domains of whole health (sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, habits and use e.g. alcohol and social media, daily routines, social connections and your sense of empowerment). We give you a detailed personal report on each domain. Re-score at six months to see your progress.
A small group that meets regularly working through the domains together. The app holds the structure with a comprehensive curriculum, while the sessions stay human.
The evidence shows people change behaviour through peers, people you trust, who expect to see you next week, covering all important health domains rather than one symptom at a time.

Groups do something individual apps cannot. These are the mechanisms we deliberately design for - drawn from decades of research, including trials showing that facilitated group conversation can improve health at a population scale.
Believing you can act is what instruction alone can’t give you. Groups build that belief where a lone app can’t.
A reliable conversation is itself the intervention - peer accountability from people who expect to see you next week, not another tracker watching you.
Shared experience normalises the struggle. The quiet reassurance that we all fail in different degrees is part of what makes people stay.
Park runs, drop-in centres, group initiatives, information about care and voluntary services - surfaced by the group, for the group, wherever you live.
Groups ask why things are the way they are - a route from coping alone to acting together.
Not one metric in isolation. The eight domains are looked at together, because that’s how health works. Every domain interacts with others.
Grounded in a scientifically proven Theory of Change.
You don’t need to be a health expert. You’re the host, not the teacher. The curriculum does the heavy lifting, and you bring people together.

HaleGroups is founded and led by Professor Anthony Costello, a paediatrician and global health researcher. It’s built on published trials of large-scale population group interventions rather than wellness claims, drawing on decades of research into how health actually changes when people work at it together.

Groups are set up people who choose to host, and can involve anyone from friends and family to colleagues or neighbours. The host can create a group in the Groups tab within the app, then invite by each member by adding their email addresses. Each member will then receive an invite by email and within the app if they have an account. Note: only Premium HaleGroups users may join groups. The sessions will be guided by a 30-session curriculum made available to the host, along with other resources and safeguarding information.
